Clarinet Tenon Replacement

This professional bass clarinet met with a tragic accident which broke one of the tenons right off. Its owner was devastated since he had hand-picked this instrument from twenty-five different candidates at the Selmer distribution center. Since replacement was not an option, the only choice was to have us repair the tenon. We carefully bored out the remains of the broken tenon. Next we machined a new tenon matching both the inner bore of the top joint and the existing metal tenon cap. With the new tenon in place, we had to carefully drill the necessary tone holes and post holes that were covered by the new piece. The final stage was replacement of the tenon cork, replacement of necessary pads, adjust and oiling of the mechanism. The final result is a repaired tenon that looks and performs as new
